Cream College Unveils Flexible Ministry Courses
Cream College is set to introduce short courses aimed at equipping contemporary lay-ministers with practical theological training without derailing their active service. According to a statement issued by the institution on May fifth, twenty-six, the Provost, Foster Dela Gatsi, said the initiative addresses the strain many ministers face when attempting to balance full-time academic study with pastoral responsibilities.
The programs are structured in modular blocks that concentrate on ministry-specific competencies, including homiletics, congregational leadership, and contextual theology. College administrators explained that the design allows participants to remain engaged in their local assemblies while acquiring skills directly applicable to their weekly duties. Instruction will blend in-person intensives with guided practical assignments.
Gatsi stated that the college observed a widening disconnect between traditional seminary models and the lived realities of lay-leaders who cannot absent themselves for extended periods. He described the courses as a strategic response to equip ministers with analytical depth and pastoral sensitivity without imposing the logistical and financial burdens of residential programs. Faculty will comprise both academics and experienced practitioners.
The move reflects a growing international trend toward accessible, applied theological education that prioritizes contextual relevance. Educational analysts note that rigid, full-time formats increasingly exclude capable leaders who sustain grassroots ministries across Africa and beyond. Cream College’s model seeks to close that gap by prioritizing flexibility and immediate applicability.
With enrolment expected to open in the coming months, the college anticipates that the first cohort will inform subsequent offerings tailored to emerging needs within the church. The initiative positions Cream College as a responsive institution committed to strengthening ministry practice through adaptive learning.
